INDIE ACTION ICON FRANKLIN CORREA TO DIRECT “FATAL”
By Staff Writer
Franklin Correa makes no apologies for his in-your-face style of filmmaking. Raised in the tough streets of Newark, New Jersey, Franklin is an underground action icon known for his minimalist approach to production. As a 5th degree black belt in Ninjutsu and writer/director of eight feature films, Franklin applies his “close quarters” martial arts discipline when creating action sequences with nearly nonexistent budgets. His newest endeavor, Fatal, is a gritty female-driven thriller that aims to further his legacy as a renegade filmmaker.
Fatal is the story of two former CIA operatives, Sully (Gerard Adimando), and his partner Bianca (Raquel Rivera), now retired and enjoying separate lives away from the crime-soaked organizations they once hunted. When Sully gets word that a former case is heating up again, he understands that his past is quickly becoming impossible to escape. Forced back into a world they would rather forget, Sully and Bianca must finally end a nightmare that won’t die.
When asked about his expectations for Fatal, Correa expressed optimism. “It’s about doing more with less… making films that entertain despite their small budgets. For fans of movies like The Hunted, Hard to Kill, Point Of No Return and The Villainess, Fatal will provide the kind of action that makes audiences want more and more!”
Slated for production this summer in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the cast also includes Bryan C. King, Kofi Nsafoah and Ron Liguori. Release plans for Fatal include a festival world premiere before wider release on TubiTV and Amazon Prime in early 2023. Fans of Correa’s films can catch his recently completed thriller, The Milano Effect, on streaming platforms later this year.
